About Me

My name is Jenifer Helyar and I have been painting all my life and am mainly self-taught, although I have attended classes in the past and gained an A level in Art. Many of my friends and past colleagues have commissioned me to paint their pets, usually but not exclusively in pastels. More recently I have produced some in oils, but I find that pastels are better at giving the fluffy fur effect!

As you can see I also paint landscapes and abstracts. Landscapes from inspiration of my local area where I walk with my border collie, Meg. Also I paint watercolours in the countryside with friends who are also members of Broadwater Artists, a local group who meet throughout the year in a local community centre.

Last year I was lucky to have a studio converted from a large shed in my garden (see photo) which also has space to display my paintings.

Please enjoy my website which is still very new and look out as there’s more to come!
